The Challenge, my first short film

The Challenge is the story of three very bored kids who transform their day with a contest that sees them exploring home, garden, and beach. This is a collaboration with William Morgan,talented photographer and now film maker. Big thanks to Kate John for Styling and make up and to Mahalia John who shot some great B roll. The Haughton kids were marvellous just being themselves. Ian Phillips-McLaren did an amazing job with the edit, grade and sound. The film can also be viewed on my website www.michaelheffernan.com

Boutique hotel shoot in Kenya

 The owners of award winning boutique hotel Asha Cottages commissioned me to photograph their amazing property in Kenya. I set off last week to the white sands of Diani beach, two hours drive along the coast from Mombasa. The hotel is well known in the region for its outstanding beach setting, tasteful decor and the best food for miles around.  Our lovely model and great staff made for a wonderful fews days of shooting.

luxury villa shoot

Last week I was on the Greek Island of Zakynthos photographing at a luxury property for James Villas. The images will be used in up coming magazine ads to present the companies collection of handpicked luxury villas. The elements of a beautiful property, incredible light and wonderful models made for a very enjoyable and successful shoot.

Autumn in Alaska

I'm just back from shooting a road trip travel story in Alaska. Pretty soon the landscape will be smothered with deep layers of snow so it was a treat to see the Alaskan autumn in all its glory.  The story is due for publication in june next year.

UK travel story

Last month I spent five days shooting a travel feature during fabulous weather in a magical part of the UK. The location will be revealed early next year when the story is published and in the meantime here is a small selection of images from the shoot. I will be off to Alaska tomorrow for two weeks for my next travel story.

Technogym

In July 2012 I spent a week shooting a new image library for Technogym, the world leader in products and services for training and rehabilitation. The company also promotes the Wellness lifestyle, a way of living that incorporates regular physical activity, balanced diet and a positive mental approach.

Shooting Italy and London, the brief was to capture the essence of wellness by shooting people engaged in a wide variety of physical activities and also by portraying healthy lifestyles. More than 30 agency and street cast models were photographed in locations including beach, gym, countryside urban and park.

The Boxers

 Islington boxing club is the base for a group of amateur boxers who maintain a punishing training schedule. Over a six month period I documented the clubs members as they were put through their paces by a dedicated team of coaches. On every visit I witnessed the Intense concentration, physical exhaustion and determined spirit of these tough individuals. More images from this personal project can be seen on my website in the projects section.

Coke Dubai

I'm just back from a five day shoot in Dubia for Coke. The project is under wraps at the moment until its launch in a few weeks time when I can report more about it. Locations included a villa, corner shop and cafe and featured a crew of ten and cast of twenty eight.We were shooting in extremely sticky heat of near 30 degrees at night!

Digicel shoot in Jamaica

Back in March I was commissioned  to shoot a large image library and an above the line campaign for Digicel, a mobile phone network provider covering large parts of Oceania, Central America, and the Caribbean. A wide range of locations through out Jamaica were used as well as several days in the studio. More than fifty models were used over the two week shoot and some real street cast people were found for some of the key above the line AD's, some of which feature below.
